Simin and Nader have been married for 14 years and have an 11-year old daughter. Simin wants to leave Iran and build a life with her family elsewhere in the world, but Nader insists they stay in Iran to take care of his father, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. As Simin files a divorce, the story becomes complex.
